Learning Gardens and Food Justice at LGL 

This course will focus on how we can create sustainable and just change in our food system and beyond. Students will explore the concepts of sustainability, sustainability leadership, food justice, and food sovereignty through community-based learning with the PSU Learning Gardens Lab (LGL). This course will focus on community building, group discussions and activities, and will work on projects that connect LGL with on-campus food security efforts. For Spring Term 2022, this course will include face-to-face meetings at LGL (depending on PSU and Oregon's Covid policies) and Zoom meetings. LGL is located at 6745 SE 60th Ave, Portland, OR 97206.

Learning Gardens, Community Engagement, & Sustainability -  This course will explore the concepts of sustainability, growing food, and personal connection to land/nature through community engagement with the PSU Learning Gardens Lab (LGL). This course focuses on community building, group discussion, and personal reflection and will involve working on projects that support the mission of LGL. In Spring Term 2021, this class will be offered fully remotely with a weekly optional time to meet in-person at LGL.  The optional LGL meeting will take place on Tuesdays from 1:30-3:30pm and synchronous Zoom meetings will be on Thursdays from 1:30-3:30pm. LGL is located in SE Portland at 6745 SE 60th Ave, Portland, OR 97206.

This course will explore sustainability and personal connection to the environment through community engagement at the Learning Gardens Lab (LGL). Students will examine community-based learning through the lens of sustainability leadership, and engage with alternative and critical perspectives on sustainability. Class time will focus on hands-on activities in the learning gardens, group discussion and community engagement projects. Students must attend the first class session on campus.

Students will examine community-based learning through the lens of sustainability leadership, and engage with alternative and critical perspectives on sustainability. Class time will focus on hands-on activities in the learning gardens, group discussion and community engagement projects in support of the Oregon Food Bank and Wombyn’s Wellness Garden.

Learning Gardens, Community Engagement and Sustainability. Students will explore community food security through community engagement in learning garden programs.  Class time will focus on issues of community food security and ways to create food justice through community engagement and learning gardens.
